From Barn Studio to Boutique: My Creative Process

From Barn Studio to Boutique: My Creative Process

Introduction

When I first started my business, I had no idea that it would come what it has become today. I am very grateful that I get to create each and everyday from a studio in our barn paid for by my business. My creative process has evolved over the years. In the early days I would paint well into the evening hours and get up early before work to paint again. I needed long hours uninterrupted to paint and I loved it. I bought myself an Ipad a year or so ago and have never looked back. With two kiddos under 3, getting out all of my paints is just not realistic and so I've realized the freedom digital drawing has given me to expand on my style.

Rooted in the West: Where Inspiration Begins

I grew up in I would say "rural suburbia", there were still horse pastures down the road and the berry farm that got sold off to a developer years later. I loved being outside and went to the nearby river whenever I got the chance.

I by no means grew up on a ranch, had livestock or rode horses. But it was something I always admired and loved. The grit of everyday ranch life was something that I have always been drawn to. Now that I am an adult, we've chosen to take on a small piece of the western way of life. I live down a long dirt road, and each year we add to our little homestead. We have a robust garden and just added ducks and chickens to our little farm fam.

I come from a long line of gritty women, and their stories are what influences my life and impacts my business to this day. They embodied the west in their own way and I hope to inspire you to also do the same. To pave your own path and blaze your own trail.

The Barn Studio: A Creative Sanctuary

In 2023, my husband and I decided to embark on our biggest home reno project yet! We took the bare bones of our barn and made it into a functional yet beautiful studio where every single order is packaged with care.

4. The Creative Process: How an Idea Becomes Art

I take inspiration from a lot of places, but I find that time out in nature and having the space to be alone with my thoughts are when my creative ideas really shine.

I want my art to tell a story, to inspire and create something beautiful that lasts beyond the artwork. I've always loved bold colors and unique illustrations and my goal is to make you feel like the unique woman that you are.

I strive to only offer the finest products that I can source. I've gone through a list of suppliers and local makers to get to the product that I offer now. I only offer the finest silk products and source locally USA printed stationery. Small batch manufacturing and eco-friendly production are at the top of mind when sourcing my materials.

Why It Matters

Creating isn’t just about making something beautiful — it’s about honoring where I come from, staying rooted in values that run generations deep, and crafting pieces that carry meaning beyond the surface.

Each product at Tirzah Lane is a reflection of something more: heritage, grit, and grace. It’s about doing things the right way, with intention and care, and weaving in the stories of the women who inspire me — women who work hard, lead with heart, and live boldly and beautifully.

My hope is that every piece you bring home feels like a treasure — a small, artful reminder of who you are and what you stand for. Whether it's a wild rag, a piece of Western stationery, or a gift tucked into someone’s hands, I want it to feel like it was made just for you.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just art. It’s a connection — from my hands to yours, from one Western woman to another — celebrating a lifestyle that’s timeless, intentional, and full of soul.
